Project Brief

Record label aimed to increase awareness of the event and bring a crowd of Ugandans that had never heard of the foreign artist before.


  • Develop communications strategy integrating the visiting artist’s style and ethos into existing local music culture, and assist with getting prominent local artists and media involved.
  • Leverage and manage influencers to help promote the event.
  • Create social media content including images, videography and copywriting to spark interest in the event in Kampala.
  • Assist East African Records to manage social media pages.
  • Organize media interviews introducing the record label and visiting artists to the Ugandan audience.
  • Write and distribute a press release and develop several feature stories and promo videos
  • Manage digital ad buy as well as production and placement of radio mentions.
  • Assisted in the preparation of the venue.


  • Trended #1 on Twitter in Uganda on event day.
  • Exceeded our target of 3 TV/radio interviews, arranging 6 media appearances.
  • Generated 23 online media stories.
  • The main event had a strong turnout, including local pop stars known for the same genre of music.
