Overview

Kwanza Communications served as the Africa PR lead for the European Patent Office (EPO) Young Inventors Prize 2025, supporting Ugandan finalists Sandra Namboozo & Samuel Muyita for their post‑harvest solution Karpolax. We planned and executed a pan‑African communications programme spanning media relations, multilingual content, and stakeholder coordination.

Objectives

  • Build public awareness of the Young Inventors Prize and the Karpolax innovation across East Africa.
  • Secure tier‑one coverage and interviews in Uganda and the wider region.
  • Support EPO messaging and brand consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Provide on‑the‑ground liaison with finalists, institutions, and local media.

Our Role & Approach

  • Media relations: Curated tiered media lists (print, TV, radio, online) and managed interview scheduling and briefing.
  • Multilingual content: Press materials and social copy in English, Luganda, and Runyankole to reach key audiences.
  • Spokesperson support: Talking points, FAQs, and media coaching for finalists.
  • Monitoring & reporting: Daily coverage tracking and insights for the EPO team.
  • Stakeholder coordination: Worked with community, academic, and innovation stakeholders to amplify impact.
